When I heard about the possibility of the government shutting down recently, I was skeptical. Governments don’t just shut down, right? It looks like I wasn’t the only one thinking this way. CNN quoted someone as saying that a shutdown would bring terrible repercussions on the United States. They say that a shutdown would be a first in the United States. However, that’s not entirely the case. Partial shutdowns have happened twice before, in 1995 and in 1996. But, don’t feel too bad, it was news to me too.
In short, there is the possibility of a shutdown on March 4th, and one in May, and yes, it is an actual possibility. Will it happen? Dunno. That’s something for the politicians in Washington to determine. However, I for one, would like to see a little backbone in our government. There are no easy decisions to be made. In a way, I pity the politicians in Washington. I wouldn’t want their job. But, decisions like these need made, and dare I say, that more, even tougher decisions need made?
CNN worries over government shutdown causing national park closing and nonexistent clean up after elephants. Actually, I wasn’t really worried about those.
